Out of Town {Howell, Michigan - Photographer}

I have to go out of town unexpectedly as my Father-in-law is back in the hospital. We are going to leave in the morning and probably be gone until the weekend depending on how things go. I will try and check my email from their home, but I can’t guarantee anything. If you need to get in contact with me, please call.

Thanks so much!

Urban Winter Photo Shoots - Take 1 {Howell, Michigan - Photographer}

So in Michigan being an “On-Location, Natural Light” Photographer can get a little tricky when we only get 1 or 2 days a week - MAYBE - that aren’t dismal and dreary. When people hire me in the winter we typically think indoor shots in their homes, HOWEVER, I am trying to think a little outside the box this year.

I was able to talk a couple faithful client’s into trusting me with their kids so that I could show everyone the results of a 15-20 minute photo shoot.

Throughout the winter months I am going to be running a special for these types of sessions:

How much is it? (the important question, right?!?)

Since these are shortened sessions the sitting fee is also shortened. Instead of a $100 sitting fee, you will only have to pay $50.

What do I get?

- 15-30 minute photo shoot at an “Urban” (or a country/rural) location
- 10-20 shots of your kids/family in nice coats/hats/scarves/boots/etc.
- a complimentary 8×10 from the session (a $40 value)

I am also excited to be unveiling some new custom collections as well as some new products for the new year, but that will be in a future post.

For now, I would like to show you the results from Saturday’s “Urban Winter Photo Shoot”. There will be 3 sessions I will be showing within the next couple days.

My baby girl. {Howell, Michigan - Photographer}

This is my baby girl and we finally had her baptized last weekend after waiting a whole year. We have been blessed enough to have finally found a church that feels like ‘home’ after a very long search. We had put off Shay’s baptism until my father-in-laws health had returned, as he has been struggling with some up’s and down’s of the long term effects of Diabetes.

He was doing great and so we scheduled the baptism. On the snowy morning of the baptism we found out that he had been admitted to the hospital that very morning for a possible heart attack. Then we were told that they would be putting a pacemaker in. We prayed for him along with our entire congregation and miraculously all they had to do was take him off of a particular medication he was on to make a world of difference.

He is home now and doing so much better. We are really looking forward to going to visit this Thanksgiving. We have SO much to be thankful for!

Here are some portraits of my sweet Shay in her baptism gown. It was very difficult finding a gown, that was within my price range for a 1 yr old. I was lucky enough, however, that my obsession with looking around on the Etsy website paid off. There is a wonderful group of women that have a store called “4 Crazy Ladies” and they made this BEAUTIFUL layette for Shay.

I didn’t get any snaps the day of the baptism because of the craziness of the day, but I made a point to give her, her own mini photo shoot.

8 month old beauty ; Howell, Michigan - Photographer

8 months is such a great time to get photos of your little one. They are sitting up really well, but they aren’t running away from the camera yet.

I could have photographed this little one all day long! She had the sweetest smile and the most beautiful family on top of that…a photographer’s dream!

Sweet Baby L ; Howell, Michigan - Photographer

I LOVE photographing newborns!!! I am totally in love with it!! Newborn sessions are always longer then most sessions - lasting on average 3 hours - and are very WARM sessions as we need to keep the room a warm enough temperature that the baby will be comfortable.

However, the reward of these long, warm sessions simply take my breath away and make me love what I do even more.

Military Family; Howell, Michigan - Photographer

What a great family I got to meet this past weekend. They are stationed in Germany and were here visiting for a month with family. They have already seen their gallery, but I have some favorites that I wanted to share. They are such a fun and beautiful family and were totally willing to hang out in the fridged temperatures.

Not sure what I did to get this reaction, but I LOVE it!

Bad Blogger…; Howell, Michigan - Photographer

I have been a bad blogger! Thank goodness for Facebook I was able to share these with this wonderful family already.

With my daughter’s 1st birthday party this past weekend and her baptism this up coming weekend things have been a little crazy to say the least! I have 5 boxes of photos ready to ship out to clients and 2 galleries to finish editing before I am caught up - YEAH!

This family was so fun and I totally love their style!

Birthday Celebration; Howell, MI - Photographer

I will be out of the office for a few days without email connections. We are going to my mother’s house for the weekend to celebrate Shay’s 1st birthday. I will return emails first thing on Monday morning.

And because I can’t write a post without photos, here is my family - my life - my world. These were taken by a wonderful photographer friend of mine and my wedding photography partner, Leah of LCH Design/Photography.

There are more coming as we did more photos today. Also, on a side note, I realize I should of dressed Shay in more pink because, frequently, where ever we go she is being mistaken for a boy. This never happened with Sarah because she always had so much hair so this is a new experience for me and I am not one to dress her in frills - maybe I should glue a pink bow to her head :D .

And here is one share of my dear friend’s family. What a blessing it has been to get to know them!

Their family of 3 is soon to be a family of 4. We all are praying that they get to travel before the Chinese New Year to get their little boy soon…

Okay….this photo is far from perfect…but I LOVE it! I think they are such a beautiful couple and it is totally classic that little G is running around and I happened to capture her in the bottom corner of the photo.

Growing like weeds; Howell, Michigan - Photographer

I keep saying that my children are growing up too fast, but what is even more unbelievable is how fast I see the kids I photograph growing up. I have had the honor of providing this family with photographs since there first little boy was about 6 months old and now he is a big brother!

Here are some photographs from just 8 short months ago when Baby M was just a couple weeks old…
