In this economy most everyone’s focus has turned from wanting everything regardless of cost, to wanting good products at a fair or discounted price. I have recently been turned on to coupon shopping. Initially I was very frustrated by the task of juggling coupons, kids, and the shopping cart, not to mention my shopping list and the grocery ad. I was about ready to give up on the idea, however, I had been completely inspired to make an effort to try and do this after seeing how much money could truly be saved. I took some time last night and put together a binder using sheet protectors made to hold business cards. Each slot holds a different kind of coupon. I made my shopping trip this morning and to my surprise I had a savings of 53%!!! I was sooo excited, but I know I can do even better next time!
I think also in this economy that we are re-focusing on what is most important to us and for most of us it is our families. I truly believe that capturing family portraits is so important because our families are ever growing, ever shrinking….ever changing. I photograph newborns all the time and it makes me realize how hard it is to even remember my own children when they were that tiny. That is usually when I need to pull out the albums to remind myself that, yes, they were that small and to remind me how fleeting every moment is.
I have been blessed with keeping very busy this summer and now fall. My schedule is almost completely booked until November. I would like to squeeze in a Christmas/Holiday card special, however, for those bargain shoppers out there that realize the importance to family portraits, but would also like to save some money.
I wanted to focus my special this year not only on cards, but also in gift giving. Why not tackle a few Christmas gifts in the process of having your portraits taken?

And because I can not have a post without a photo, here are two sisters and their sweet dog…

I hear it all the time from parents “They grow up so fast! Cherish every moment with them.” I hear this especially from the parents of High School Seniors. It is so good for me to hear this over and over, because today it hit me very hard. THEY DO GROW UP SO FAST!
My oldest started her first day of kindergarten today. It was so very bittersweet. She was ready and she confidently told me, “Mom, I am going to make so many new friends!” I didn’t think it would be as hard as it was, because she has attended preschool for the last two years. However, it hit me, as I was leaving the school, what a big girl she is now and how she is not technically my baby any more. Yes, I cried on the way home! I was proud that I held it together, though, until I was in the car
I am getting a little tearful again thinking about it so I will just post the 2 photos I took this morning before we left for school…
In the car…
Love you baby girl! ♥
