1 year old portraits {Photography by Sabreena; Michigan Children Portrait Photographer}

I hate to post and run, however, life is completely crazy right now with photo sessions, editing, and life as a mom….

Soooo….Here is sweet little “K”. I can’t believe that just a year ago she was a newborn and now she is a little independent person with the sweetest smile ever!

More of this beautiful family coming soon! :)

Family of 5 {Photography by Sabreena - Michigan Family & Children Portrait Photographer}

First, I want to thank all my client’s for their patience. I feel so blessed that my calendar has been filled up, however, this makes the balancing act of taking photos, editing photos, and getting previews up very challenging. There is a very good chance that a lot of my client’s will not see their typical previews on the blog before they get their gallery. I am still sticking to my 2 week editing time frame, however, I can no longer guarantee the blog previews. If you are on Facebook and would like me to put a couple up there as I get them edited or even after you see your gallery just add me as a friend and I will do this.

Kennsington Park is becoming one of my favorite locations. It overs so much in the way of backdrops, the lake, the woods, fields, trees. So much fun for an active family. I honestly do not know how this family does it with a set of twin 1 year olds and a 3 year old. They keep them busy and beautiful I believe!

I want to say a huge “THANK YOU!” to the “C” family for your patience in rescheduling. I think we ended up with the perfect day for photos!

Twin 1 yr olds and Family Portraits {Photography by Sabreena; Michigan Family Photographer}

This family was so sweet! These parents have their hands full with these busy 1 year olds, but it is so amazing and so sweet to watch these two little people discovering the world around them. Around every corner there was something new and amazing to explore.

2 more days…{Photography by Sabreena - Michigan Maternity, Newborn, Family, Children, & High School Senior Photographer}

Well, the count down continues…2 more days and I will be on a plane to sunny San Diego, CA. YIKES!!!

Once I am on the plane I will be fine, but it is the anticipation prior to that is sending the butterflies in  my stomach spinning.

I have had a record number of sessions within a short period of time because of the amount of time I will be gone. I had to make sure to squeeze in maternity sessions along with a couple senior sessions and a family session. I have another maternity tonight and then a high school senior tomorrow…then away I go.

So here is a brief view of some of the sessions from this past week…

This first session is with a high school senior. She is the cutest thing and SO SMART and down to earth. I kept thinking, “I want my daughter to be like her when she is a teenager!” Here’s hoping ;)

This one is a bit more dramatic then I normally do, but I totally love it!

Okay, for this next session there is sweet 1 yr old, Mr. “B” and his family. He has the biggest smiles and they lasted the WHOLE session! What a dream to photographer, and such a good looking family to go with the smiles.

Last, but not least, is a family that I photographed 2 years ago. They are now expecting an addition to their beautiful family and I can not wait to meet her! I feel truly blessed to get to photograph this family through this new life change.

Mom and her 3 girls:

These two sisters were so adorable and I couldn’t help but continue to photograph them when mom when to change. The sister bond is something that is a truly amazing thing!

This last photo is one of my favorites from the session. I love everything about it from mom’s perfect belly to the beautiful blue colors, to the connection between mom and baby.

I am hoping to get previews up for my next two sessions before I leave on Wednesday morning, but it may just be too much. If I don’t get those up look for wedding photos from my brother’s wedding and maybe a few beach and Sea World photos soon. :D

Beautiful Family Portraits {Photography by Sabreena - Michigan Family Portrait Photographer}

I ♥ this family!! I have been photographing their family way back when they were only a family of 3. They have now grown into a family of 4 and are as beautiful as ever! Thank you G family for not only being wonderful to photograph but for also being such great people.

Thankful Thursday {Photography by Sabreena - Michigan Family Portrait Photographer}

Being Grateful…

I purchased a “Gratitude Journal” from Paper Source last Christmas for myself, with the intention of writing in it ‘almost’ everyday. A lot of times my good intentions fall by the wayside when life’s everyday activities fill up my schedule. After re-organizing my office I came across the journal again and decided I would try again and make this part of my work routine.

What I have found is that it is easy to write about what you are grateful for when the kids are being perfect angels, when the laundry is all caught up, when a trip to the grocery store goes exactly as planned. On the flip side, it is hard to write about being grateful when things are not going as expected.

I have also learned that it is MORE important to write down what I am grateful for on these more challenging, less then perfect days. Below is a recent entry example…

June 26, 2010

Yes, my kids seem to be in a constant state of war with each other; And the words “That’s Enough! Do NOT look at each other, Do NOT touch each other, Do NOT say a WORD to each other until you have something nice to say!” seem to be a tape recorded message coming out of my mouth every couple hours.

But I have two healthy, generally happy and well behaved little girls who know that their parents love them no matter what. That is what I am thankful for today; That and nap time! :D

Okay, On to the pictures. The pictures fall into another category of thankfulness. I am SO VERY grateful for the friends that I have made at my wonderful church (Heart of the Shepherd). This family makes me smile every time I come in contact with them and what a wonderful gift to give to another person!

So without further adieu here is a beautiful slide-show and a few of my favorites from the session…

9 Years {Photography by Sabreena - Michigan Family Portrait Photographer}

Today is my  9 year wedding anniversary! I can’t believe 9 years have gone by so quickly, which is a total testimony to my wonderful husband. We have been through our share of ups and downs in our life, but each year our marriage has gotten stronger and stronger. I think this is a testimony to our love and our faith.

Thank you Steve for being a wonderful son, brother, uncle, father, husband, and most importantly my best friend!

I ♥ You!

Mine on Monday {Photography by Sabreena - Michigan Children and Family Photographer}

I am always looking for new parenting tips and tricks when it comes to my kids and I am so very excited about this new idea I am trying with Sarah (6 years old). It is actually based around a program that Dave Ramsey recommends to help kids learn about money and about saving, spending and giving in a smart way.

She has a goal that she has set for herself to save enough money to purchase a Hello Kitty Scooter. We printed up a picture of it and taped it to her saving jar. Her spending jar is for the little everyday thing…like if the ice cream man drives by and she wants something. The giving jar is for giving to our church or another charity of her choice.

We just started the program of the jars this week, but she has been earning money for a couple of weeks now by doing her weekly jobs. That is why there isn’t much in the spending jar yet. She made the decision to put everything she has earned so far into the saving jar.

She earns her money by completing her weekly jobs. If she doesn’t complete her job, then she doesn’t earn her money for that day, (teaching her the importance of hard work hopefully). It is a very visual program, which is great for her. We even sat down and figure out how long it will take her to save up the rest of the money for her scooter if she does all her work (4 weeks).

My 2 year old even showed an interest when we were setting up the jars; Although, her long term goal is saving a penny to ride the horse at Meijer on our weekly shopping trip :D

The other fun project we are doing at our house is starting our first ever garden. I have a black thumb, so it should be interesting to see how this turns out. ;)

Pictured below are some of the tomato plants that we have started. Most everything else has been transferred to the garden and if they actually produce any vegetables I will be sure to show some photos!

Wordless Wednesday {Photography by Sabreena - Howell Michigan Family Photographer}

Thankful Thursday! {Photography by Sabreena - Michigan Children Portrait Photographer}

When you have kids there are always so many “firsts”. First tooth, first step, first word….first day of kindergarten…and now the first “Daddy-Daughter Dance”. My sweet girl has been so excited all week for this and even included it in her prayers last night as something she is so very grateful for.

And because I can post a photo of one without the other, here is my baby…she looks SOO much like her dad!

I have a newborn and a 1 year old session this weekend so be on the look out for those posts…coming soon! ;)
